John Glenn Elementary First Grade
Absences
Please call or email the office or nurse if your First Grader will be absent. Feel free to also send an email to your child’s teacher. Most of the work we do in First Grade is here at school. In the case of absences, there will rarely be work to send home so it is important for our students to be here when they are healthy.
Miscellaneous Information
Regular School Hours
Our regular school hours are 8:05-3:05.
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast is served at school daily (except on late start days) at: 8:00.
Our lunch is 11:25-11:55 and alternates are available.
Our regular specials time is 1:30-2:15. We rotate PE, Music, Library and Art.
*Parents are welcome to come to school and eat lunch with their child. Please call the office the morning you plan to eat lunch so we can plan accordingly.
Transportation and Pickups
If you need to change how or whom your child is going home with, please send a note or call the office so that we know how to make sure they get home safely.For the safety of our students, we are unable to keep students here or send students home with someone other than a parent or guardian without a note or phone call from their parent or guardian. If your student will be picked up, please meet them outside at the appropriate doors so that they may be checked out. If you are picking your student up early, please call the office and stop in there to check your student out.
Snack
We have a daily snack in 1st grade. Students may purchase milk here at school. Healthy snacks need to be brought from home and should not be candy or soda. Milk is charged to the student’s account just as lunch would be.
Birthday Treats and Invitations
We would love to celebrate your child’sbirthday at school by bringing a treat! Because of the Wellness Policy in North Scott Schools, please make sure these treats follow our nutrition guidelines. Please refer to your Parent Handbook to find these, or call the nurse’s office for more information. Also, please send along the necessary serving items and napkins.
To be fair to all of our students, we are unable to send home party invitation here at school. Thank you for understanding!
